Ways to naturally treat these 7 common skin conditions

As we age, our skin goes through many changes – we might have lumps and bumps and veins where we never had them before, and might have more sensitive or oily skin than we are used to.

This means our skincare regime needs to change with our skin’s reactions and flare ups, however you don’t to spend a small fortune to get value for money.

Here’s some simple ways to naturally treat 7 common skin conditions.

1. Warts

Apple cider vinegar

ACV’s high acidity attacks the “flesh” that makes up the wart, kills the physical wart itself, and allows it to peel naturally from the skin. This should take the virus with it, and it shouldn’t return anytime soon. Apply with a cotton cloth daily and pumice stone remove any dried skin so it can penetrate.

Banana peel

Bananas contain a proteolytic enzyme that eats away at the wart. Twice a day, scrape the off the inside of banana peel and apply it to your wart. Wash your hands well afterwards to keep the warts from spreading. Repeat until the wart is gone.

Vitamin C

It is thought that applying Vitamin C directly to the wart will destroy the virus causing it. Using lemon juice not only gives an extra boost of vitamin C, but the acid helps kill the source of the wart.

Crush up a vitamin C tablet and add enough lemon juice or water to make a paste. Cover this with a bandage and reapply daily.

2. Skin tags

Pineapple juice

Pineapples have great anti-inflammatory properties and are good for blood thinning. Apply pineapple juice on the affected area twice a day for 7 to 10 days without rinsing.

Ginger

Rub slices of raw ginger on the affected area for about two weeks to see results.

Tea tree oil

Tea tree oil has anti-fungal, antibacterial and antiviral properties and it works to dry out the skin tag so that it falls off on its own. All you need to do is soak a clean cotton ball in water and tea tree oil then rub on a cleaned skin tag.

3. Dark circles

Coconut oil

Thanks to its moisturising qualities, coconut oil promotes smooth skin and prevents dark circles. Simply massage coconut oil under your eyes and leave on for a few hours before washing. Repeat two to three times daily until you are satisfied with the results.

Honey

Honey has some wonderful benefits, not least of all its ability to reduce inflammation, perfect for under eyes. Lightly apply a small amount to the eye areas before bed and wash off in the morning for a noticeable reduction.

Lemon juice

No matter your skin colour, the vitamin C in lemon juice makes an excellent lightener. Soak cotton pads in cold lemon juice and rest under your eyes, being careful not to get the juice in your eyes. Rest for 10 minutes then splash with fresh, cool water.

4. Dark spots

Green tea

This can protect against sunburn in the first place, but will help also help promote wound healing and skin regeneration because it is an anti-inflammatory. Simple brew a pot of green tea and let it cool. Soak a clean cloth in the tea, and use it as a compress for sunburned areas.

Rose water

The rejuvenating features of rose water are very effective in soothing the area. Just apply cotton balls soaked in rose water on closed eyes for 15 minutes or so.

Olive oil

Olive oil has a plethora of uses with one being a great skin nourisher. It is also high in vitamin E, which also gets rid of sun spots. Simply apply to the area once a day and rub in like you would moisturiser.

5. Age spots

Castor oil

Age spots will be no match for beautiful, nourishing castor oil. Use a cotton ball to apply to your age spots and gently massage in, then leave on. Repeat every morning and night until the spots fade.

Onions

Like lemons, onions are natural skin lighteners. Rub onions on your age spots twice a day, and wash off the juice after about an hour

Aloe vera gel

Apply aloe vera gel on your age spots for at least 45 minutes two times a day and for better results – it aids skin regeneration and sun damage.

6. Moles

Castor oil and bicarb soda

All you need to do is mix an equal amount of castor oil and bicarb soda into a gummy paste, place it on the mole, and cover it with a bandage. Remove the bandage in the morning and rinse the area. This should be done every other day.

Apple cider vinegar

Simply soak up the apple cider vinegar with a cotton ball, tape the cotton ball to the mole with a bandage or medical tape and leave it there for eight hours a day. The mole should blacken and fall off.

Garlic

You can use garlic extract or just plain garlic to remove a mole. First, you must protect the skin around the mole with masking tape or petroleum jelly. Then you either apply garlic extract or pressed garlic to the mole. Cover with a bandage for four hours and repeat the process daily.
