These 30 minutes out of your day could increase your risk of obesity and diabetes

Thirty minutes a day doesn’t seem like a lot of time, but to your body, it makes a powerful impact. A new study by a team of researchers at the University of Bristol in the UK and Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar has found that missing out on thirty minutes of sleep during the week can increase your risk of obesity and diabetes.

“We found that as little as 30 minutes a day sleep debt can have significant effects on obesity and insulin resistance,” said Professor Shahrad Taheri from Weill Cornell.

“Sleep loss is widespread in modern society, but only in the last decade have we realised its metabolic consequences.

“Our findings suggest that avoiding sleep debt could have positive benefits for waistlines and metabolism and that incorporating sleep into lifestyle interventions for weight loss and diabetes might improve their success.”

So tell us, how much sleep do you get every night? is it too much or too little?
