The things you need to handle stress free

Do you sometimes feel that you’re stuck in first gear and not really getting anywhere? An image that comes to mind is a hamster, legs moving frantically spinning on its wheel. You might feel like this when you are stressed, when things start to pile up on you and you can’t see a way out.

There are going to be things in life that are stressful — you can’t escape that, but there are also things that become stressful and often it doesn’t have to be like that.

Life is precious and so too is the time you spend, so what things should you limit spending time worrying about?

1. The past
There’s a saying that what’s done is done and what happened in the past is the past. If something happened long ago and is unlikely to be changed or amended, don’t let it stress you. If you think about it, how many of the war conflicts are being fought because of things that happened in the past? Something that has happened in the past can only hurt your if you let it, so don’t.

What you should do instead of letting it burden you is learn from it and allow it to reframe your way forward.

2. Money
Perhaps one of the most common sources of stress, money is something everyone places importance on. You use it to pay bills, you use it to by clothes, you use it to feed yourself, so naturally when you don’t have it stress comes a-knockin’. Remember this though, nearly everyone has some form of debt, so you are not alone and almost everyone wishes they had more money than they really do.

There are ways in which you can make money and increase your cashflow, but if you are not happy with what you have then no amount of cash will satisfy you or remove the amount of stress you feel about your financial situation.

3. Bills
This one probably goes hand-in-hand with money, and bills are one of those things you can’t escape. While you can’t avoid bills there are things you can do to prevent them from consuming you. Are there ways in which you can cut costs? Could you improvise on some of your non-essential spending? These things can have a large impact in the role bills play in your life.

4. Opinions
Let’s be honest for a moment, everyone at some point gives a fig about the opinions of others but what is more important is that you value yourself and what you stand for. Don’t get stressed by what someone else says just because it’s different to your own opinion, embrace it and stand proud because of your unique style and perspective.

5. The future
You only have a certain level of control when it comes to your future, so don’t let it eat you up! If you want the best future for yourself give careful consideration to the decisions that come your way and do your best to avoid unnecessary stress.

6. Getting old
It’s going to happen to the best of us… Unless of course you’ve found that elusive fountain. Plenty of you will embrace the ageing process, while others will become so stressed by getting older if shows in your appearance and your attitude. Forget about what’s to come (if you don’t like ageing, you’re really not going to like #5) and focus on enjoying the here and now.

7. Death
We warned you… It’s unlikely you’ll escape this one, though some of you will have a much better run than others. Why then would you allow yourself to get hung up on something you really can’t change (and have no control over). Make the best of your life.
