Lose weight by following this three step plan that isn’t a diet!

When we think about losing weight, the majority of us think about extreme dieting and we know that it only works for some people. However researchers from Cornell University believe they have found the perfect non-diet method to lose weight.

It’s called C.A.N. and is a three rule method that comes down to food choices being Convenient (easy to reach), Attractive (enticingly displayed), and Normal (an obvious choice).

The researchers analysed 112 studies that gathered information about healthy eating behaviours. People who ate healthiest did so when a grocery store, restaurant, or partner offered up food following this formula. Think about a bowl of fruit displayed on a countertop versus fruit buried in a drawer in your fridge and you get the idea.

The study, published in the journalPsychology and Marketing, also offers hints about what to avoid: Watch out for specials at restaurants that have a tempting name, like Creamy Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo; are highlighted on the menu; and that your waitress is touting.

“With these three principles, there are endless changes that can be made to lead people…to eat healthier,” promises Brian Wansink, PhD, Director of the Cornell Food and Brand Lab.

So next time you’re thinking about losing weight, instead of going for a diet try the C.A.N. method instead! Think about your food differently and treat it a little differently and you could enjoy the same fantastic results as you would cutting down on food by force!

Tell us, do you think the C.A.N. method would work for you?
