Win a double pass to see ‘Mrs Brown’ live on stage

Australian Agnes Brown fans are in for a treat next year. The Irish TV icon is returning to Australian stages, and five lucky Starts at 60 readers could soon score a free pass!

For the Love of Mrs Brown – written by and starring Brendan O’Carroll – takes the famous matriarch and her family into territory a little more risque than what we’ve seen on TV: Agnes looks for love on “D’Internet”, Cathy considers plastic surgery, and Dermot tries to freshen up the romance in his marriage.

Since her previous Australian visit last year, the now-iconic character has gone from strength to strength. Mrs Brown’s Boys was voted the “Best Sitcom of the 21st Century” by Radio Times readers, and her new chat show, All Round to Mrs. Brown’s, has been warmly received so far by fans.

When O’Carroll recently spoke with Starts at 60, he reminisced on his own mother’s hilarious quirks and tiny gestures, many of which directly inspired his character.

“Like my mother, [Agnes] always has a hanky in her pocket and always has a tea towel in her hand,” he said. “A tea towel is like a tool box. My mother’s tea towel – she would open bottles with it, she would flick you across the ear with it, she’s do the dishes with it, she’d feed the dog with it. It was her multi-tool.” (Read the full story here.)
