Watch the stars during dress rehearsals for My Fair Lady

Part of the cast of My Fair Lady.

The 60th anniversary edition of My Fair Lady, directed by Julie Andrews, had its opening night in Brisbane last night.

Anna O’Byrne might be quite at home performing Opera.

But her latest role, playing Eliza Doolittle, shows she is quite the fair lady too.

The Melbourne born performer was cast by Andrew Lloyd Webber to create the role of Christine Daae in Love Never Dies, the sequel to The Phantom of the Opera.

Anna went on to play Christine in The Phantom of the Opera in London and was even the first person to perform the role in Russia, which was broadcast nationally from the Bolshoi Theatre as part of the Golden Mask Awards.

More recently she was in West Side Story in Melbourne, before returning back to the UK for a tour of Guys and Dolls and also appearing in Kings of Broadway in West End.

Anna now joins Charles Edwards, Robyn Nevin, Mark Vincent, Reg Livermore and a large cast in the latest production of My Fair Lady.

With these performers, not to mention an equally talented cast and teams of designers, choreographers and much more behind the scenes of the reborn My Fair Lady, the stage show is expected to continue to smash box office records.

Before the opening Starts at 60 was among the lucky media who caught up the cast during rehearsals and got to see some behind the scenes action.

Watch more: Julie Andrews shows why she is still a fair lady.

Lerner and Loewe’s My Fair Lady opened in Brisbane on March 19 and will open in Melbourne on May 16 and Sydney on August 24.
