Broadway star Betty Buckley’s super news

This new role might bring Betty Buckley a whole new world of fans.

For decades she’s been a legend of stage and screen and it’s just been announced she’s taking on a super new role…. in Supergirl.

The original CATS performer, who also took to the Broadway stage for Sunset Boulevard and Pippin, was the much loved step-mother Abby in the television series Eight is Enough. She recently featured in the movie The Happening, by M. Night Shymalan, and had roles in Pretty Little Liars and The Leftovers.

This year she’s also continued to sing in concert, and has released new CD’s as well.

It’s clear that even at the age of 70 she’s not ready to slow down just yet.

In Supergirl she’s going to be playing Patricia Arias, the mum of Samantha (Odette Annable) who’s about to be Supergirl’s villain, known as Reign.

If you are a fan of the show you can see her from episode seven of this current season.

Earlier this year Buckley told Starts at 60 that Buckley said she had been fortunate to work with some pretty great actors in the film business, especially in an industry where many kinds of actors are very closed. “Gene Hackman being one of my favourites and of course, Robert Duvall, one of the greats and Harrison Ford.”
