A man dying of cancer has claimed he’s been left homeless and penniless after his own granddaughter kicked him out and stole his entire life savings.

Speaking on Channel 9’s A Current Affair, Bruce Buckley, 77, made an emotional plea for an official police investigation into his granddaughter Sheree’s alleged actions, claiming she committed fraud by faking his signature to sell his home from under him without his knowledge.

A distraught Bruce was diagnosed with stomach cancer 18 months ago, and despite being given a year to live, is still fighting the disease now.

“It’s hard to trust anyone… I trusted my family and they took me down. They were spending my money as fast as they could get it,” he said.

“I think she thought I’d be gone by now, that I’d have died – but I’m still here.”

The retired carpenter explained he helped to raise Sheree from a child, and they jointly owned their home – with Bruce building extensions and making major improvements to the house over the last few years, before falling ill.

However, he told the TV show their relationship began to disintegrate four years ago when Sheree met her new boyfriend Shane – someone Bruce said he knew very little about.

From there, he claimed Sheree became secretive – and he eventually discovered she had sold their home without his knowledge, claiming it was to pay off a debt in both their names.

When finally discovering the official documents for the sale, he said his own signature which appeared on them had been faked – as he had never seen them before, let alone signed them.

Alarmingly, each signature looked different, appearing to confirm the documents were false.

From there, it’s claimed Shane bought the home back for him and Sheree – still at this point without Bruce’s knowledge, putting it in to their names instead.

Slowly members of Bruce’s family became suspicious and eventually told him they had overheard the callous couple discussing how they would kick him out within the week – while allegedly attempting to sell his belongings on Facebook and Gumtree, as well as the house itself online.

It only got worse, as Bruce has since discovered a raft of bills in his name – none of which are his. One is a mobile phone bill, despite him not even owning one.

On top of that, he claims his granddaughter has stolen his pension. She had been claiming carer’s payments while giving him a measly meal a day from the funds – none of which he’s seen himself.

Relatives have now taken Bruce in, and asked on the show if he’s got any fight in him, he said: “No I don’t know.”

A Current Affair confirmed a police investigation has since been opened into the claims of fraud.
