A comedian dramatically stormed off The Project after launching into an epic rant over the royals, declaring she hates the Queen, dislikes the Duchesses Meghan and Catherine, and claimed none of them “have a patch” on Princess Diana.

Anne Edmonds appeared on the Channel Ten show as her comedic character Helen Bidou from ABC’s Get Krack!n – known for dishing out harsh style advice – and immediately launched into a series of foul-mouthed tirades at her fellow panellists, before unleashing her fury at the entire royal family.

The 36-year-old was initially on the show to discuss style, but it soon descended into a ‘discussion’ about Prince Harry and his new bride Meghan’s royal wedding on Saturday. She began by criticising the bride’s choice of wedding dress, saying: “I hated the dress. Where did you get that, Witchery?”

But it was merely a warm up for what was to come, as she went on: “Look I don’t like Meghan and I don’t like Kate, because they’re not a patch on Diana and they never will be.”

Bursting into tears (not for the first time) on air, she then shouted at the camera: “I will never forgive the Queen for what she did when Diana died. She didn’t come out of the castle. She didn’t lay a wreath! The people’s Princess, you don’t know. Meghan, I hate you and I hate Kate!”

It appeared to be part of her act as she soon pulled herself together to continue a more cheery conversation with the panellists – but none of them escaped her fire either.

While she accused Tommy Little of sleeping with her, she laid into presenter Carrie Bickmore’s outfit, saying: “Nice outfit. Sale at Sussans?”

There were brief outbursts, a lot of screaming, and many tears, before she insisted she was the best comedian out of all of them and dramatically stood up mid-conversation before storming out. Her parting words (or shouts) were: “I hate you! I hate Meghan, I hate Kate, I hate the Queen, ahhh!”

It divided viewers, with some applauding the outrageous appearance, while others weren’t so sure. One Twitter user wrote: “Maybe it helps if you’ve seen her before – I saw her show in Sydney on the weekend and could not stop laughing.”

And another added: “Helen Bidou on @theprojecttv – that was awesome! Carrie’s face says it all…”

However, another responded to that comment: “Were we watching different things? That was horrendous!” While another viewer added: “I think she just blew any chance of anyone watching her again!”

What did you think of the outbursts? Do you find her funny, or was the royal rant too far?
