Kylie Minogue unrecognisable as drunken 70s mum in new Aussie film

Kylie doesn't look like this in her latest film project!

She’s one of Australia’s finest exports but pop-star Kylie Minogue has gone to extreme lengths to commit to her latest film project.

In fact, the 49-year-old is almost unrecognisable in her role as a boozy mum from the 1970s.

Minogue appears alongside a star-studded cast in the new Aussie flick, Swinging Safari.

Judging by the trailer, it looks like the film producers have raided our old family videos and made a hilarious film that could easily be based on our own lives.

The movie, set for release next year, tells the tale of some outrageous Aussie families living in a typical beachside neighbourhood.

Minogue has ditched her usual glamorous looks and appears to play a drunken mum who has a strangely close resemblance to our own family.

In one scene, she can be drinking vodka straight from the bottle as she dishes some home-truths to her sons.

The ‘Better the Devil You Know’ songstress dons an outrageous 70s-style bob cut that we’ve probably all been guilty of rocking at some point in our lives.

She completes her insane look with a crazy blouse and over-the-top green eyeshadow.

In addition to her controversial look, Minogue’s character isn’t shy when it comes to flaunting her sexuality, partaking in a racy neighbourhood swingers party.

Given that the film is directed by Stephen Elliott of The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert fame, we’re guessing that there’s going to be plenty of naughty jokes and embarrassing moments.

The best part is that Minogue isn’t the only star of the film bringing back some serious 70s vibes, with more jumpsuits, sideburns, Super 8 cameras, flare jeans, aviator sunglasses and moustaches than you can poke a stick at.

Guy Pearce, Asher Keddie, Julian McMahon, Radha Mitchell, Jack Thompson and Jeremy Sims also have leading roles in the film. Let’s just say they have their fair share of retro wigs and vintage fashion as well.

You will be able to see the gang in action when Swinging Safari arrives in Australian cinemas from January next year.

What do you think of Kylie’s shocking appearance in the film? What was your favourite fashion item from the 70s?
