The 69th Tony Award nominations were announced yesterday and there are some big names in the running! Leading our favourite over 60s is Helen Mirren, nominated for her role as the Queen in “The Audience” for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Play. She’s closely followed by Bill Nighy who is nominated for his role in “Skylight” for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play.
The Tony Awards are often considered more prestigious than an Oscar because quite simply, they’re well deserved for real talent – no computer or special effects to distort or manipulate an actor’s ability.
