Have your say about the best Aussie entertainment ever

What is one thing that hasn't changed on your television screen?

Remember when we first got television? Things sure have changed since then.

There’s more than a channel or two to choose from, the luxury of a remote so you don’t have to convince the kids to get up and change the channel for you, and no scheduling your life around when a program was on, because everything can be recorded.

Not only can you watch anything you want from around the world on any number of mobile devices, you can watch it whenever you want at the touch of a button.

One thing, however, that shouldn’t change, is the availability of quality, local content. After all, where would we be without Australian TV and film?

The good news is, the federal government agrees that good, homemade productions enrich the country, strengthen our communities and bring us closer together. It’s just announced a review into Australian content and children’s content, that will inform government decisions on how to support local productions.

You can have your say by contributing to the review here, with a report expected back by the end of the year.

If you need a reminder of some of the great Australian content that has been produced over the years, this clip from Screen Australia is sure to give you a few reminders.

It’s already been viewed more than 100,000 times, with many people commenting on their favourites, and giving suggestions for the many other great productions that hadn’t been squeezed into the clip.

From Playschool to Storm Boy, The Castle to Home and Away, Prisoner to Wentworth, there have been so many iconic Aussie shows and movies.

If watching the clip makes you nostalgic for TV of time gone by, there’s a website called The Screen Guide that will help you track down info on your favourite shows and whether they’re available to watch online.

What is your favourite Aussie screen memory?
