Loretta Lynn was admitted to hospital on Thursday night after she suffered a stroke while she was in her Tennessee home.

A statement on her website says she is currently under medical care and is responsive and expected to make a full recovery.

Lynn’s sister, singer Crystal Gayle issued a statement about Loretta. “Many of you have heard that my sister, Loretta Lynn, had a stroke. She’s a strong woman and I know she’ll come out of this. Our family appreciates your prayers, love and support. We pray for a speedy recovery,”

Because the 85-year-old has been advised by her doctors to stay off the road while she is recuperating Loretta Lynn’s upcoming shows will be postponed.

Its not the first time Lynn has had to cancel or postpone a concert for health reasons. Last September she cancelled one after she had a fall. She also postponed shows last June after the death of her 47-year-old grandson, Jeffrey Allen Lynn.

It has been a big year for the music icon. Her 2016 album Full Circle was nominated for a Grammy for Best Country Album and is her fortieth Top 10 County album. Lynn said she had enjoyed making music for 56 years, when she heard about the Grammy nomination.  “It feels good to know that people are still listening and appreciate what I do. I’m so thankful and proud,” Loretta Lynn said.

She has a new studio album coming out on August 18.  Lynn will also be the focus of a major exhibition in June at the Country Music Hall of Fame. “They best have a big space…I have a lot of stuff!, she said, after the announcement was made.
