Commemorating John Lennon’s 74th Birthday at Strawberry Fields…

Oct 11, 2014

The 9th October marked John Lennon’s 74th Birthday and Beatles fans gathered around his “imagine” tile at Strawberry Fields to commemorate with singing.  It got us thinking how important his music is right now, given the world’s current predicaments so we thought we’d take time out to show you the pictures of the Lennon commemoration this week and enjoy his lyrics and the things he fought so hard for… peace.

Lennon was born on October 9, 1940, at the Liverpool Maternity Hospital and made a difference to so many baby boomers’ lives.

This week, as the world struggles with war and epidemic, it is fitting to enjoy his lyrics so today we share them with you below along with pictures from this week’s commemoration at Strawberry Fields.

Which song of John Lennon’s do you think is most poignant?  Stand by Me?  Imagine?

Lyrics: Imagine
“Imagine”

Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today…

Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace…

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world…

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one
