The Prairie to come back – but who will play Landon?

Feb 14, 2016

Anyone who lived through the seventies and eighties will fondly remember the Little House on the Prairie.  It is a treasure from a long gone time.  But we have good news.  Apparently this treasure is being remade into a new feature adaptation by Paramount Pictures.

The Prairie was a good wholesome television show from the time when TV delivered poignant life lessons and simple outdoor pleasure we’re all sure the romance of an earlier life will have us all want to see it in curiosity.  It was a loosely adapted programme that stemmed from Laura Ingalls Wilder’s popular books that were about “The simple life”.  It was a family set on a farm in the late 1800s in Walnut Grove Minnesota epitomising a world that doesn’t exist anymore… back breaking labor, long walks to school, no inside toilets and the burden of constant financial insecurity.

The beloved show ran from 1974 to 1982 and for many years after in reruns.  It featured Michael Landon, the heartthrob every woman yearned for.  But the big question is can they ever really replace Landon in this gorgeous role of Pa?
