Insider photo proves the Queen sent this tweet herself

Just because Her Majesty is a Queen, does not mean she delegates every single thing to someone else. This insider photo shows that Queen Elizabeth, who has been sending thank-notes from her desk at Windsor Castle for decades, has now traded in her pen and paper for a tablet!

The monarch expressed her gratitude for all the good wishes she’s received for her 90th birthday with a special tweet, reports People.

“I am most grateful for the many digital messages of goodwill I have received and would like to thank you all for your kindness. Elizabeth R.,” the Queen tweeted.

Her Majesty passed her landmark 90th birthday in April, but it was celebrated officially with a series of grand events last week including the Trooping, flower show as well as a horse race.

In case more proof was needed that the message came from the tech-savvy royal herself, the official @RoyalFamily twitter feed followed up with: “This tweet was personally sent by Her Majesty The Queen.”

This isn’t the first time Her Majesty has embraced technology and used Twitter. Her first tweet came in October 2014 at London’s Science Museum where it said: “It is a pleasure to open the Information Age exhibition today at the @ScienceMuseum and I hope people will enjoy visiting. Elizabeth R.”

“Elizabeth R” is how the Queen signs official documents. The “R” stands for “regina,” which is Latin for “queen.”

What do you think of the Queen’s approach to new tech?
