Helen Mirren admits disappointment at being snubbed in upcoming movie

Helen Mirren is used to stealing the show in her movie roles but it seems she’ll be well and truly out of the spotlight in the next Fast and Furious film.

The 70-year-old actress sounded disappointed when she spoke to Entertainment Weekly about how the producers decided she wouldn’t be using her driving skills in the popular car racing franchise.

“I wanted to be driving, but unfortunately, I’m not,” she said, shrugging. “Maybe that will come in the future, in Fast and Furious 12″.

“I’m probably one of the few people on the set who know how to drive a gear shift car. I doubt the Rock knows,” she joked. “But I do. I know how to double declutch”.

The snub comes after Helen openly expressed her desire to be in the high speed films that star Vin Diesel and the late Paul Walker.

“My great ambition is to be in a Fast and Furious movie,” the actress told Yahoo Movies in March 2015. “I sowant to be a mad driver in a Fast and Furious movie.”

Nevertheless, Helen insists she is looking forward to being on set, albeit for one day.

“I’m very nervous,” she told EW, “because when you’re going on to a set with people who have been doing this for [so long], basically, they all know each other, they’ve worked together, they know what they’re doing. I’ll be, you know, the newcomer, the newbie.”

“I’ve only got one day, and I’ll probably f— it up, oh God”.

“I think they’ll be nice to me. I hope they’ll be nice to me”.

They better! Tell us, do you think it’d be cool to see Helen driving a fast car?
