They say a way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.
But for Goldie Hawn, it was through her children.
Hawn recently said she fell in love with Kurt Russell after seeing how he looked at her children, Kate and Oliver Hudson.
During the filming of their movie Swing Shift, Hawn said she’d invited Russell back to her house after filming as they planned on going dancing.
“I brought him to my house and he came in to see my kids,” she said.
“Katie was three and Oliver was five and they were sleeping; I remember how he looked at them.
“He stared at each at them for a few minutes and I thought, if someone can love my children the way that I do…I fell in love with him right there.”
Together for 34 years, the blonde beauty opened up to People magazine about the ups and downs of their relationship.
“Monogamy is a very tough order,” she admitted.
“You’re in the prime of your life, you are attracted to other people, potentially, you have fantasies about that.
“It really runs the risk, if you will, if you’re not aware that you could maybe screw up a really good thing by doing that.”
The 71-year-old Oscar winner said talking to each other about it helped.
“I’m sure I’ve been party to it, and Kurt’s been—we’re all normal this way,” she said.
“It’s like, “You really liked that guy, didn’t you?’ Or the woman says, “You were looking at her.’
“My answer would be, ‘Of course. Why not? She’s beautiful.’
“Would you want a man who doesn’t look? Who doesn’t feel inspired by the beauty or the curves of a woman’s body? Or the way she is?
“I mean, come on. We’re human beings.”
As for what’s kept the famous pair together, Hawn said:
“Love, gratitude, compassion – because sometimes every man or every woman will drive their partner crazy.
“Family. Fun. Laughs. Sex. If you don’t nurture that and remember, you’re done.
“There is, I guess, an elasticity to the relationship. Otherwise it’s going to break, just like a rubber band.”
