Two Aussies become multi-millionaires after winning massive $80M lotto prize

Two lucky Aussies received the phone call of their dreams on Tuesday night as they were revealed as the division one winners of a massive $80 million Oz Lotto prize.

A mum from the regional Queensland town of Ipswich and a man from the Sunshine Coast were shocked beyond belief to hear they had become multi-millionaires by simply picking the right numbers.

It came as the ultimate surprise for the woman who said she laughed in disbelief when she was told by an official from the Lott that she had won. The “down-to-earth” mum had apparently checked her ticket straight after the draw but was unaware she had won such a massive amount.

“I logged onto the Lott app and saw that I had all the numbers and thought I must have won something,” she explained. “I was thinking I would have won a couple of thousand.

“I just kept thinking ‘that can’t be real. That must be a mistake’.”

The mum added: “It’s just so weird to think I am a multi-millionaire.”

When asked how she planned to enjoy her new found multi-millionaire status, the thrilled woman confessed it would be life as usual. She claimed to officials that not much will change and she would still start the day with the school drop off. However, the mum said she would be splurging a bit of it by treating the family to their dream overseas holiday.

“I never thought I’d win the lottery!” she exclaimed. “Oh my God, I can’t believe this. I just can’t. It’s very surreal.

“We’ve always wanted to go on a family holiday to Canada, so we’ll do that. We’ll do everything! It will be absolutely life-changing!”

Meanwhile, the Sunshine Coast man has already decided how he will spend his winnings, with plans to head to the Italian Grand Prix.

Speaking to officials about the life-changing money the second winner said he was incredibly excited to become $40M richer and is looking forward to carrying out his ultimate dream.

“It’s going to change my life a fair bit,” he explained. “I’ll think about it for a day or so, but the first thing I want to do is get a little house and upgrade the car. Probably do something like that – I might even buy a big house!

“I’m probably like most people who get this call. I’m thinking ‘what the hell!”

He added: “I’ve always wanted to go to the Italian Grand Prix. It’s in September and by the looks of things I’ll be able to do that now. I’ll definitely be able to do that in style.”

The winning numbers in Oz Lotto draw 1323 drawn on Tuesday were 42, 35, 29, 19, 36, 14 and 25, while the supplementary numbers were 13 and 1.  In addition to the two division one winners, a total of 1,443,114 prizes worth more than $32.92 million were won in divisions two to seven.
