Look at that rock! Sam Armytage shows off stunning engagement ring

Sunrise presenter Samantha Armytage announced her engagement to Richard Lavender on Sunday, and now the 43-year-old journalist has shown off her stunning diamond ring. Returning to work on the Channel Seven show on Tuesday, Sam said she is “really, really happy” with her husband-to-be.

The breakfast TV star flashed her beautiful ring to the camera as her co-stars congratulated her on the happy news, before revealing when and where the proposal took place.

Despite the couple only sharing the news two days ago, Sam admitted that Richard – a horse breeder and farmer – actually popped the big question in a “private and lovely” way on his property in the New South Wales Southern Highlands a “few weeks ago”.

“We’d been picking weeds in the paddock and he said ‘darling, do you want to marry me?” the bride-to-be said this morning.  “It was very sweet, and he’s a very good man.” She added: “He’s just a very, charming, lovely fellow. He is totally the opposite of the showbiz world and TV.”

Armytage shared the happy news on social media on Sunday afternoon as she posted two photographs of herself cuddling up to her businessman beau. The journalist captioned the post, “What a year…”, as she uploaded two photos of herself showing off a dazzling diamond ring. Sam’s delight was clear to see as she smiled widely at the camera with her hand placed on Richard’s chest.

Many people, including some famous faces, congratulated the couple on their happy news. Sam’s co-star David ‘Kochie’ Koch wrote: “Wow that’s such wonderful news. Congratulations to you and Rich from Libby and I.”

Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac said: “Sam!!! Richard!!! Well bloody done. So great to see some happy news! @banjoarmytage for ring bearer duties, calling it early.” While reporter Edwina Bartholomew commented: “Well, this is hands down the best thing to happen this year.”

Sam and Richard, 60, are believed to have met at Skye Leckie’s 60th birthday party in April last year, and they confirmed their romance in November.
