Shocking new details have emerged after a four-year-old girl was found dead in her Cannon Hill home on Monday morning.
Emergency services were called to the scene where they discovered the child’s body in her cot at the home in Bent Street in the Brisbane suburb of Cannon Hill on Monday.
The girl’s father, Mark James Dunn, has been charged with murder and had his matter briefly mentioned in the Brisbane Magistrates Court earlier today, The Courier-Mail reports. It is alleged that Dunn, 43, claimed he found his daughter Willow dead in her cot on Saturday morning according to court documents, though forensic investigators are still working to determine the exact cause of her death and when she died.
According to a statement released by the Queensland Police Service, the home was immediately secured as a crime scene, with the statement reading: “A crime scene was immediately declared at the house as investigations commence into the circumstances leading to the child’s death. The girl’s family is assisting police with the investigation.”
A witness on the scene reported that about five people appeared to have been inside the home when paramedics and police arrived.
Meanwhile, a resident of a neighbouring home told The Courier-Mail that the family who rent the home have been “relatively quiet” during the period they have lived there.
“I have never heard much from them,” she said. It’s a quiet street … it’s a bit of shock.”
Dunn’s case has been adjourned until July 20.
