She announced last month she was flying to London to confront Meghan, Duchess of Sussex but it looks as though Samantha Markle has been unsuccessful in her quest to patch things up with her half-sister.
According to UK publication The Mirror, Samantha arrived uninvited at the home of Meghan and Prince Harry over the weekend – only to be turned away by security guards. The report claims the 53-year-old was left embarrassed after staff refused to let her past the gates of Kensington Palace.
In photographs obtained by The Mirror, Samantha could be seen handing over a letter to an officer, before leaving the scene.
Samantha herself appeared to confirm she had in fact been to see her sister, posting a cryptic message on Twitter shortly after the incident.
“Everybody would love to know what’s in that letter,” she teased.
Despite being turned away, it appeared as though Samantha had been overcome when “Meghan Mania”. The American was spotted holding masks of Meghan and Prince Harry close to Kensington Palace. The images have spread quickly on social media.
Samantha’s representative Rob Cooper revealed last month that after “numerous discreet attempts” to contact her half-sister, Samantha was travelling to the United Kingdom to confront Meghan about their father Thomas Markle.
Explaining at the time that Prince Harry’s wife had left them no option, Cooper took to Twitter to explain Samantha’s plans.
“Samantha Markle is coming to the UK. After making numerous attempts in private to arrange a one on one meeting with The Duchess of Sussex to discuss their 74 year old father’s health, Kensington Palace have refused to respond,” he said. “I fear Meghan may not be made aware of these discreet attempts and therefore making this public is the only option we have left. I currently have Samantha in Europe with just one short flight away.
“This DOESN’T need to be public, we would prefer to keep this private. Samantha is coming to the UK this week, like it or not.”
During the trip, Samantha seemingly apologised to Prince Harry and Meghan during a British TV interview, admitting she wished “things could be different”.
On the Jeremy Vine Show, she said she wanted to “hopefully move forward with peaceful resolve”.
She also took aim at Meghan’s mother Daria, claiming she “wasn’t around much” when Meghan was in her teenage years.
The Duchess of Sussex and her sibling have had a strained relationship for years, made worse when Samantha publicly slammed Prince Harry’s wife ahead of their wedding earlier this year.
