Sarah Ferguson may no longer be a member of the British royal family, but the Duchess of York has retained scores of loyal fans from around the world thanks to her down to earth nature and sense of humour.

And Sarah showed just how normal she is on Thursday as she posted a series of images on Instagram, revealing some of the activities she gets up to when she’s not carrying out charity work or spending time with her daughters Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.

The 60-year-old shared two rather odd snaps on the social media site, the first of which showed her perusing the shelves in British supermarket Waitrose, seemingly trying to choose which crackers to buy. And ayone who has ever nipped into the shops ‘for one thing’ will surely be able to relate to Sarah, as she clung onto a bundle of items she had already picked up.

The second image showed Sarah seated on a comfortable-looking couch as she got stuck into a bit of sewing. Wearing a pair of tortoise-shell glasses, the duchess smiled eagerly at the camera, while holding what appeared to be a brightly coloured scarf.

The Duchess of York has kept a relatively low profile so far this year, following the scandal that surrounded her ex-husband Prince Andrew at the end of 2019.

Sarah, who divorced the prince in 1996 after 10 years of marriage, is standing by her former spouse though, despite allegations made by one of Jeffrey Eptein’s accusers that the Duke of York had sex with her when she was 17 years old in 2002.

The duchess, who shares two daughters with Andrew, publicly defended his character and wrote on Instagram: “It is so rare to meet people that are able to speak from their hearts with honesty and pure real truth, that remain steadfast and strong to their beliefs.

“Andrew is a true and real gentleman and is stoically steadfast to not only his duty but also his kindness and goodness of always seeing the best in people.”

She added: “I am deeply supportive and proud of this giant of a principled man, that dares to put his shoulder to the wind and stands firm with his sense of honour and truth. For so many years he has gone about his duties for Great Britain and The Monarch. It is time for Andrew to stand firm now, and that he has, and I am with him every step of the way and that is my honour.

“We have always walked tall and strong, he for me and me for him. We are the best examples of joint parenting, with both our girls and I go back to my three C’s .. Communicate, Compromise, Compassion.”
