Meghan’s father Thomas Markle has led a stream of congratulations messages for his daughter and her husband Prince Harry after they welcomed a royal baby boy together.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex confirmed their son was born weighing 7lbs 3oz at 05.26am on Monday morning (UK time), with the duchess thought to have given birth at home at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.

Prince Harry himself confirmed the news in a beaming TV interview, revealing his first child is “to die for” and saying: “It’s been the most amazing experience I could ever have possibly imagined.”

Now a stream of well wishes have flooded in from the royal family, Princess Diana’s family members, Meghan’s own relatives, celebrity friends and politicians.

Thomas Markle led the wishes, according to The Mail Online, reportedly saying in a statement: “I’m delighted to hear that mother and child are doing well.

“I am proud that my new grandson is born into the British royal family and I am sure that he will grow up to serve the crown and the people of Britain with grace, dignity, and honour.

“GOD bless the child and I wish him health and happiness, and my congratulations to my lovely daughter Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry, and GOD save the Queen.”

Meanwhile, the Queen and Prince Philip, Prince William and Catherine, grandparents Prince Charles and Camilla and Princess Diana’s relatives Lady Jane Fellowes, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Earl Spencer all shared a statement revealing they were “delighted with the news”.

Meghan’s mother Doria was with her when she welcomed her son at Frogmore Cottage, and the royal family confirmed on Instagram that she’s “overjoyed” to welcome a grandson.

Elsewhere, Princess Diana’s brother shared his own message on Twitter, writing: “Really very lovely news today – many, many, congratulations! (Good to have another Taurean in the family….)”

He was joined by Barack and Michelle Obama in sending wishes online, with the former US President and his wife writing: “Congratulations, Meghan and Harry! Barack and I are so thrilled for both of you and can’t wait to meet him. #RoyalBaby.”

Meghan’s former Suits co-stars Sarah Rafferty and Patrick J Adams also wished the former actress their best, praising the “incredible parents”.

Adams wrote: “Just heard that the world just got heavier by 7 pounds and 3 ounces. Much love to him and his incredible parents. Learned first hand 7 months ago how transformational becoming a parent is and couldn’t be happier for Meghan and Harry as they begin this adventure. .”

And The Duke of York, Prince Andrew, tweeted: “Congratulations to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the safe delivery of your baby boy!”

UK Prime Minister Theresa May added her own message online, writing: “Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the arrival of their baby boy. Wishing you all the best at this happy time.”

And the Archbishop of Canterbury, who married the couple in Windsor Castle’s St George’s Chapel on May 19 last year, added: “Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the birth of their baby boy. May God bless the new family with love, health and happiness. #RoyalBaby.”

Elsewhere, Meghan’s friend and makeup artist Daniel Martin described himself as a “proud gay uncle” online and re-posted the couple’s official Instagram announcement – an image with the words, “It’s a boy” across it.

It comes after a beaming Harry told news reporters: “I’m very excited to announce that Meghan and myself had a baby boy earlier this morning, a very healthy boy. Mother and baby are doing incredibly well. It’s been the most amazing experience I could ever have possibly imagined.

“How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension, but we’re both absolutely thrilled and so grateful to all the love and support from everybody out there. It’s been amazing, so we just wanted to share this with everybody.”

He promised more details would be released in the coming days, as the world awaits a first look at the royal baby.

“This little baby is absolutely to die for,” he added. “I’m just over the moon.”

The couple are yet to announce a name.
