She’s the newest member of the Royal family but it seems as though Meghan, Duchess of Sussex is well and truly finding her feet. In fact, the 36-year-old took prime position next to Queen Elizabeth II during a very special celebration at Buckingham Palace in honour of the Royal Air Force Centenary.

Senior members of the Royal family joined the Queen to enjoy an incredible flypast of the largest concentration of military aircraft in the skies of London. Still, it was the former actress that managed to snag a position next to the 92-year-old monarch. Standing proudly next to his wife was Prince Harry, while Prince William and Catherine also joined the family for the occasion.

The Queen’s sons Prince Andrew, the Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Charles also appeared on the balcony, while Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall was also in attendance.

The Royal Air Force has always been a big part of the Royal family, with four generations of the family having served or trained with the RAF and many holding honorary ranks and patronages with RAF charities and associations.

The Queen gave a powerful speech during the event, detailing her father’s experience with the force, as well as the achievements the RAF has achieved in its first 100 years.

“I remember the Battle of Britain being fought in the skies above us, and we shall never forget the courage and sacrifice of that time,” she said.

Meghan has certainly come a long way since officially becoming a Royal. Just last month at Trooping the Colour, the former actress looked nervous and was spotted asking her husband for advice during the flamboyant event. In contrast, she couldn’t have been more confident as she stood proudly beside the Queen and her husband at the RAF celebrations.

Meghan joined the Queen in June for their first official outing together – her first without Prince Harry by her side. It proved a success as the pair wowed crowds in the North of England as they oversaw the official opening of the Mersey Gateway Bridge and Chester’s Storyhouse Theatre. They then had lunch at the historic Chester Town Hall with dignitaries and were spotted sharing a laugh during the visit.

Her Majesty and Her Royal Highness then visited the Mersey Gateway Bridge in Widnes. The Queen and The Duchess met architects, planners and community representatives before seeing a performance by local schoolchildren called “Bringing communities together: Halton’s river crossings over the ages.” Her Majesty unveiled a plaque to commemorate the opening. Two weeks later, she joined the Queen again to attend a ceremony to honour the winners of the Queen’s Young Leaders for 2018 at Buckingham Palace.

Meanwhile, the Queen caused a stir in May when an unseen photo of Prince Harry and Meghan was spotted in her meeting room, in front of all her other family photos.
