Prince William on struggle of dinnertime with George, Charlotte and Louis

He might be second-in-line to the British throne, but it seems Prince William can relate to every parent’s dinnertime struggles as he revealed he too has a tough time encouraging George, Charlotte and Louis to eat what’s on offer.

The Duke of Cambridge sat down for a virtual chat this week with community chef Charlie Farrally from the PEEK Protect (Possibilities for Each and Every Kid) and joked about the relatable family problem he and wife Catherine encounter on a regular basis. The father-of-three said getting his kids to eat dinner depends very much on “what’s on the table”.

During the call this week Farrally said: “You’ll know yourself, the hardest time is dinner time”. To which William replied with a laugh: “It depends what’s on the table though, Charlie. If parents put something on that children love, dinner time goes very well. But if you put something on the table they don’t want to do, that’s another ball game.”

During the video chat the duke was given a virtual tour of the PEEK Project’s food truck which has provided over 100,000 meals to those in need throughout the Covid-19 lockdown. Meanwhile, funds provided from the National Emergencies Trust’s coronavirus appeal have helped the organisation to create hygiene and wellbeing packs for people in Scotland, such as sanitary products and soap.

William was also given the opportunity to speak with PEEK’s chief executive officer Michaela Collins during the video call. Collins started visiting the charity when she was a child and has since worked her way up to the top position.

“What a brilliant rise,” the prince told Collins. “I think that’s absolutely fantastic. You are the embodiment of what can be done. I hope when I find myself up in Glasgow in the near future I can come and see you guys in person and congratulate you.”

Although Prince William and his family have been in self-isolation like the rest of the world amid the pandemic, he and Catherine haven’t stopped helping the community, regularly communicating with volunteers and those working on the frontline. And it hasn’t gone unnoticed, with royal fans commending the duke for his kind actions and willingness to support those in need.

“I am so impressed with Prince William,” @veecee100 wrote on Instagram. “He seems to be more comfortable in his role with the royal family. I am sure his father and grandparents are very proud of him.”

“Future king doing an amazing job during this pandemic uplifting people,,” @i_am_a_pink_dahlia said. While @vintage_girl74 added: “Absolutely love William and his wife Kate. They are the glue holding it all together, all the while raising three beautiful children. Well done!”

William’s most recent video call comes after the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge sat down for a chat with veterans on VE Day (Victory in Europe Day). While they couldn’t be their physically to send their best wishes to the brave veterans on the anniversary of World War II in Europe, the royal couple were all ears as they used technology to connect with residents at Mais House, a Royal British Legion care home in the United Kingdom.

The couple were absolutely glowing as they listened to some of the oldest and youngest veterans at the care home reminisce on their times at war. Although separated on the important day due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, William ensured residents at the care home that they were in everyone’s thoughts on VE Day, with residents across the UK marking the occasion with individual commemoration services.

“Because we can’t be together, everyone’s still thinking of you all today, and are very proud of everything you’ve all achieved,” he told the veterans.
