While the Duchess of Sussex never got the chance to meet her mother-in-law, who passed away in 1997, the royal couple have continuously paid tribute to her in small ways throughout their relationship. Now, Prince Harry and Meghan have paid homage to the duke’s late mother yet again on social media.
Harry and Meghan shared an inspiring quote from the Princess of Wales’ on their Instagram account, which marks the first time they have paid tribute to her on social media since they launched their own account in April this year.
“Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you,” the post reads, with the quote attributed to Diana, Princess of Wales.
In a caption alongside the image, which was styled with the quote written in bold white type on a navy background, with the couple’s royal monogram at the top, Harry and Meghan said: “Words have the power to inspire, which is why we’re happy to share some of our favourite quotes.
“From members of the public to public figures, from teachers and students to young leaders, we begin with a quote from Diana, Princess of Wales.”
The post attracted a huge amount of attention from fans of the royal couple, with many commenting on the post to share their support for Harry and Meghan and
One wrote: “She was an amazing person. It is wonderful to see her legacy carried forward.” Another said: “Meghan and harry [sic] you’re making the world a better place. Very proud and I stand with you.”
While a third commented: “Your mum was one of a kind and left behind a legacy that generations to come will never have met her but still be inspired by her works. Like you prince Harry, we saw what you saw in choosing Meghan because she also reminds us of your mum with her own heart focussing on the greater good.
“This broken society needs more random acts of kindness. Thank you for inspiring us.”
It’s far from the first time that the couple have paid tribute to, or mentioned, Princess Diana though and Harry and Meghan made sure his late mother was part of the discussion when they announced their engagement to the world in November 2017.
During an interview at the time, asked how his mother would have reacted to the news and his new fiancee, Harry, 34, said: “They’d be thick as thieves, without question.
“I think she would be over the moon, jumping up and down, so excited for me. But I think she would have been best friends with Meghan.”
Prince Harry even included two stones from his mother’s personal jewellery collection in Meghan’s three-stone engagement ring, with the third being sourced from Botswana where they travelled together during the early months of their relationship.
The new parents also included a sweet nod to baby Archie’s late grandmother on their Instagram earlier this year, when they posted an image in celebration of Meghan’s first ever Mother’s Day. The photo showed little Archie’s feet being cupped sweetly in his mother’s hands, with a sea of forget-me-nots in the background, which are known to have been Diana’s favourite flower.
