An English baker has impressed royal fans far and wide after creating a unique cake of Princess Diana and her beloved sons for an international cake competition.
Lara Mason, the talented cook who whipped up the design, wowed crowds at the Cake International at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre with her highly detailed creation, which features the beloved princess with her two sons, Prince Harry and Prince William.
The creative cake went into great detail to highlight the special bond between the mother and her children, with all three sporting a youthful appearance in the design. Everything from the creases around their eyes to the colour of their hair was carefully thought out and intricately displayed.
While the cake of the three royals garnered plenty of attention, it wasn’t the only baked treat Lara whipped up for the show, with a life-size cake of Prince Harry and Meghan also receiving much attention.
“It was my biggest challenge to date,” she told the publication. “The faces were the hardest part and half-way through I worried I didn’t have any likeness at all.”
It definitely wasn’t an easy task to undertake with the Harry-and-Meghan cake made from 300 eggs, 50kg of fondant icing and a whole lot of chocolate ganache. Due to its massive size, it could reportedly feed up to 1,000 people, with everything bar the frames edible.
While some are impressed with the creations and in awe of her talent, others have been a little more critical with one Twitter usual labelling the cakes “terrifying”.
“Let me know if you’ve seen anything more terrifying than this Princess Diana cake,” he wrote on the post.
However, the comments haven’t phased Lara who claims she has plans to create more cakes of the royals and is excited to make one of Harry and Meghan’s baby after it’s born next spring.
While the Duke and Duchess of Sussex didn’t receive anything as grandiose as a lifelike cake while they were on their Commonwealth tour of Australia, Tonga, Fiji and New Zealand last month, they did treat royal fans to a rather special departing gift.
The day after they headed back home to London, Harry shared a sweet behind-the-scenes snap taken in New Zealand of his wife cradling her growing baby bump.
A message from The Duke and Duchess of Sussex: “Thank you New Zealand for the most wonderful last week of our tour. It has been a privilege to meet so many friendly Kiwis.Australia, Fiji, Tonga and NZ – we leave feeling inspired and reminded of how every single one of us can make a difference.” ‘The rain that refreshes the parched ground, is made up of single drops’ – Kate Sheppard #commonwealth ???????????????????????????????? ???? In the gorgeous picture, Meghan is seen standing in a beautiful forest in Rotorua, New Zealand, holding her belly as she smiles back at the photographer — her husband, Prince Harry.
The stunning photo was shared to Kensington Palace’s official Instagram page with the palace confirming the photo was snapped by Harry as the couple wandered through the forrest after their Redwoods Treewalk in Rotorua.
