Prince Harry and Meghan have kept their baby son Archie out of the spotlight since his arrival in May, but US talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has now opened up about her time with the royals, revealing the baby boy looks just like his dad. Speaking on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the comedian and talk show host told her audience that she spent the afternoon with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex at Fromage Cottage last month.
“Here’s a sentence I thought I’d never say, but I spent the afternoon with Prince Harry and Meghan,” she told the audience. “I can’t tell you how sweet they are, but the most important thing is I got to hold Archie, little Archie. I fed Archie, I held Archie.
Ellen then asked the audience members if they wanted to see a picture of the baby, before revealing she didn’t actually have one. However the comedian did draw a picture of the young royal.
“Do you want to see a picture of him? I don’t have one, I didn’t think it was right to, but I did draw a picture of him and he looks like Harry,” she teased after showing her sketch. “He has a body but I just did the face for y’all, he actually has a perfectly circular head. He looks just like Harry. And he had more hair than I did at the time.”

Ellen also defended the royal couple, saying she “hates” when she sees them “get attacked” by the public. “Seriously, they are so amazing. They’re the cutest couple, so down to earth,” she told the audience.
And I just hate it, I see them get attacked and it’s not fair. They’re just two of the most down to earth, compassionate people, they are doing so much good in the world. And they’re doing all this work with Botswana for elephants and I love that. So we’re all going to do something together.”
In recent months Meghan and Harry have been at the wrong end of public criticism. The couple faced backlash from severals popular tabloids for using private jets for trips with their son Archie last month. However, singer and their good friend Elton John defended the couple at the time.
Posting on Twitter, Elton revealed he, not taxpayers paid for their trip to Nice in the south of France and compared the backlash to the “press intrusion” which led to Princess Diana’s “untimely death”. “I am deeply distressed by today’s distorted and malicious account in the press surrounding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s private stay at my home in Nice last week,” he wrote.
“Prince Harry’s Mother, Diana Princess Of Wales was one of my dearest friends. I feel a profound sense of obligation to protect Harry and his family from the unnecessary press intrusion that contributed to Diana’s untimely death,” he added. “After a hectic year continuing their hard work and dedication to charity, David and I wanted the young family to have a private holiday inside the safety and tranquillity of our home.”
Meanwhile, the couple also copped criticism earlier this year for keeping details of son Archie’s birth and christening private. The decision to remain private about the baby’s christening is a stark difference to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge who invited the media to the christening of all three of their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. The doting parents were also photographed outside of the hospital where the children were born shortly after their arrival – a royal tradition Prince Harry and Meghan also broke.
