The royal family have well and truly gotten into the festive spirit with beautiful Christmas carols performed at the Changing of the Guard this week.

The talented Grenadier Guards played a selection of favourites for lucky royal fans who gathered around the palace.

Standing in a circle the musicians wore their bearskin hats and long grey coats for the joyous performance in the lead up to Christmas.

The Duke of York, who was appointed Colonel of the Grenadier Guards in December of last year, shared the performance online for all to enjoy.

“Thank you to the @grenadier.guards for the Christmas music at Changing the Guard this morning!” the post read.

Many social media users took the opportunity to compliment the talented musicians on their performance.

“What an absolute treat. Thank you for sharing this lovely Christmas performance. Just fantastic,” one person wrote.

“Think I can say it is getting to feel like Christmas,” another added.

While a third said: “It must be so much fun to be there now. Merry Christmas to all”.

The royal family also shared a photo of their gorgeous Christmas tree which takes prime position outside the palace.

The massive tree almost stands as tall as the palace itself, towering over the smaller trees in the yard.

The day before the royal family released a gorgeous Christmas card photo of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their beautiful children, George, Charlotte and Louis.

The snap showed the whole family huddled together in an informal autumnal photo, sat together on a tree trunk in the countryside at their Anmer Hall home in Norfolk.

Catherine cradled youngest son Louis – who is now almost eight months old – in her arms as he looked straight at the camera and flashed a small smile.

Beside them, Prince William sat down with an arm around his three-year-old daughter Charlotte as she flashed her signature smile to the camera, while her older brother Prince George made a rare appearance in trousers this time, (instead of his statement shorts), and held loving arms around his father’s shoulders.

Each member of the family opted for comfort for the natural snap, with Catherine wearing tight blue jeans and a loose jumper.

Charlotte was dressed in a sweet navy blue cardigan that is thought to have once belonged to George.

Are you a fan of the royal family? Have you erected your Christmas tree?
