She’s known as one of Hollywood’s most down-to-earth golden girls, and now Nicole Kidman has proved she’s also the ultimate gal pal. The Aussie-born actress has been on a photo-sharing frenzy over the past few weeks, taking to Instagram to gush about many of her famous girlfriends.
On Monday, Kidman posted a touching birthday wish to her talented pal, singer Sheryl Crow. She captioned the image “Happy Birthday darling, Sheryl. Love you so much. Nic Xx”. The pair have been friends for years, with Crow jumping to Kidman’s defence in 2014 after she was accused of being an ‘ice queen’.
“She’s not someone we’re going to see out paddle-boarding in a G-string; she doesn’t set up situations where she’s playing to the paparazzi,” Crow said of Kidman. “She’s more old-school than that. She’s not that kind of movie star.”
Always one to share the love, Kidman later gave a social media shout-out to her Big Little Lies co-star, Laura Dern for her birthday. The cast, which included Reece Witherspoon and Shailene Woodley, became firm friends on the set of the hit series, which examines the tough issue of domestic violence.
Kidman left viewers in tears when she gave an emotional speech after winning a Golden Globe for her role in the show. She praised her female co-stars, saying: “We sat at a table, pledged allegiance to each other and commitment to each other and this is ours to share. Wow. The power of women.”
The group are often pictured together and have sung each other praises in interviews. When Witherspoon acted as a presenter at the 2017 Gotham Awards she introduced Kidman as her “beautiful, soulful, talented friend, Nicole”.
This week, Kidman also shared a photo of pal and director Sophia Coppola. The pair worked together on the critically acclaimed 2017 film The Beguiled. On the post, she wrote “Sophia Coppola… so inspirational, talented and a darling”.
Kidman also came out in support of fellow Aussie Margot Robbie this week for her standout performance in I Tonya. Kidman took a picture of the latest edition of Vogue, which features the pair on the cover, and wrote, “Congratulations to this gorgeous woman on all your success. Loved #itonya”.
