It’s been a rocky couple of years for Karl Stefanovic following his divorce from wife Cassandra Thorburn and the drama surrounding comments he made to his brother Peter earlier this year about co-host Georgie Gardner’s credibility.
But the Today Show host, 44, says his upcoming nuptials to 34-year-old shoe designer Jasmine Yarbrough marks the time to move on.
Speaking candidly to The Sunday Mail, he said: “We’re going to get on with life and we’re going to get on with work.
“Nothing much worries me and I’ve done nothing wrong – I haven’t broken the law, I haven’t robbed a bank, I haven’t committed some sought [sic] of heinous fraud against the government.
“I’m just a guy from Queensland who has gone through some stuff, and I’m looking forward to there being no dialogue about it.”
The TV star is set to wed Yarbrough on December 8 in a lavish ceremony in Mexico.
“Most importantly, Jas and I, no matter what people have said in the past, we’re very fortunate to have met each other and we just want to focus on getting on with life… people can write a million stories about it, people can talk about it as much as they want, but Jas and I are just going to be getting on with life,” he continued.
The pair have been dating since December 2016, following Stefanovic’s split from his wife Cassandra Thorburn. They met on a Sydney party boat and have been inseparable ever since.
The host’s children from his first marriage to Thorburn — sons Jackson and River and daughter Ava — recently celebrated his bucks party on the Sunshine Coast while Yarbrough held her hens high tea in Brisbane.
Stefanovic made headlines in March when the details of a phone call, in which the presenter could be heard discussing his co-star Gardner, were revealed by an Uber taxi driver who sold his story to a magazine. Stefanovic was reportedly heard slamming Gardner, accusing her of “sitting on the fence” and not having enough opinions on the Today show.
According to New Idea, the driver said: “[Karl] said she didn’t have enough opinions and he wanted her to step up. He actually sounded angry and said he was going to start pushing hard and that she needed to do that if she wanted to stay on the show.”
