An elderly man is said to be fighting for his life in hospital after he was hit by a car whilst riding a mobility scooter in Sydney’s west.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Green Valley on Thursday morning after reports of a crash near the intersection of Wilson Road and North Liverpool Road involving an 84-year-old man.

It is believed that a Toyota Corolla, being driven by a 70-year-old woman, had been exiting a roundabout when she collided with the man as he crossed the road on his mobility scooter, NSW Police confirmed.

Meanwhile, footage obtained by 7 News shows the damaged mobility scooter crushed up against a wall on the walkway with police tape surrounded the area as officers continue to investigate the incident.

The 84-year-old was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being transported to the nearby Liverpool Hospital in a serious condition.

“A crime scene has been established and investigations into the collision continue,” NSW Police confirmed in a statement. “Police are urging anyone who witnessed this incident, or who may have dashcam footage, to come forward.”
