Dolly Parton speaks her own poem on video

Dolly Parton has uploaded a video of herself speaking the words to a poem she has written, isolated at home and having a whole lot of fun. The video ran on Good Friday, bringing a whole lot of cheer to those unable to work 9 to 5 or even to go on their easter holidays this year.

Here is the poem in full.

This too shall pass as all things will

If the virus don’t kill us, the stay at home will

The kids are bored and restless

They scream and yell and squalk

And the teens and tweens are just plain mean

they bit your bleepin’ head off

And all those lovin’ couples that were once all sweet and cosy

Now they fight like cats and dogs

Like Donald and Pelosi

Lord get us back to school

and get us back to work

and get us out this goddamned house

before someone gets hurt

And Lord please find a vaccination

in the form of a shot or a pill

‘Cos if the virus don’t kill us

The stayin’ home will
