Todd McKenney’s sister ‘splits from his ex-lover’ after he exposed their romance

Todd McKenney sparked shock last year when he revealed on a podcast that his former lover had gone on to marry his sister Lisa in an unusual love triangle.

But now, according to 6PR radio presenter Peter Ford, the TV star’s ex-boyfriend Simon Gallaher and Lisa have split up – with Todd’s public revelation apparently taking its toll on their 32-year marriage.

Ford broke the news on air on Tuesday, telling listeners: “It took a very, very big toll on Simon and on Lisa and I’ve confirmed this with Simon himself.

“Simon went into a very dark place, even contemplated suicide as a result of this story being exposed. It has also destroyed his marriage to Lisa after 32 years.”

It comes months after Todd first revealed the relationship on the Word For Word podcast last year.

“She married my ex-boyfriend and is still married to my ex-boyfriend but just has never mentioned it to me,” he revealed at the time. “It’s weird isn’t it? I don’t think I’ve ever spoken about it publicly.”

Todd said he’d dated Gallaher for five years, but that the pair broke up and lost contact. Several years later, he was surprised to discover his former lover had started a relationship with Lisa.

“I remember I was doing ‘Cats’ and there was a newspaper banner outside the newsagency, and it said, ‘Simon’s love child’,” McKenney explained. “I didn’t know anything about that but I go into my dressing room and the other guys in the show said, ‘What about Simon and Lisa?’ And I went, ‘Which Simon?’ They said, ‘Simon Gallaher’. I said, ‘Lisa who?’ And they said, ‘Your sister!'”

The couple married in 1990 and have three children together, but Todd said on the podcast that he no longer felt the need to keep quiet because the kids are grown up.

The very public announcement didn’t sit well with Lisa though, who branded her brother “a selfish idiot” on Facebook shortly after.

“Oh I’m okay, my brother is being a douch [sic] bag,” she wrote. “We all have to just duck the fall out now. Selfish lying idiot.”

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Simon also posted on Facebook: “I have only one thing to say. Todd McKenney is a Headline W***e. Shame on him. His sister on the other hand is the love of my life and wife of over 31 years. I love her to the end of the world.”

Todd later apologised for the pain he caused his family, writing on Twitter: “After the events over the past week. I’d like to apologise for any hurt caused to members of my family.”

He added: “It was NEVER my intention to hurt anyone. I’m so sorry. Hopefully we can sit down together one day and discuss any issues out of the public eye.”
