Nicole Kidman’s niece says she won’t be following in her aunty’s footsteps

She regularly accompanies Nicole Kidman on the red carpet, but Lucia Hawley has revealed she won’t be following in her aunty’s famous footsteps.

In an exclusive chat with The Daily Telegraph, the 20-year-old, daughter of Antonia Kidman, said she has her sights set on becoming a journalist.

“It won’t be show business, probably journalism more,” Lucia, who is studying arts at Sydney University, told the publication. “I am thinking about what I want to do. I am loving uni, it is fantastic, like the best years of your life.”

Lucia is Antonia’s eldest child with her late husband Angus Hawley, followed Hamish, 17, James, 15 and Sybella, 11. Antonia remarried Singapore-based businessman Craig Marran in 2010.

Antonia, Nicole’s younger sister, began her career as a journalist and researcher on Channel Nine’s Today show, before moving to Newcastle to be a reporter at NBN.

It comes after Lucia, who was a flower girl at Nicole’s wedding to Keith Urban in 2006, attended the 2018 ARIA Awards with the Moulin Rouge star. Nicole shared a sweet snap of the pair, who have a striking resemblance, getting ready together for the evening.

She wrote: “Going to the #ARIAs with my niece, we’re so excited to see Keith hosting!”

More recently, Lucia accompanied her aunt and grandma at the 2019 Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Awards.

Sharing a photo of them together on Instagram shortly before, Nicole wrote: “Grateful to be going to the AACTA Awards with my mum and niece in Australia. Thank you for the nominations for #BoyErased, it means so much.”

For the lavish event, Nicole opted for comfort with low silver shoes and wore simple earrings to complete her eye-catching look.

Meanwhile, her mum co-ordinated perfectly in a long black dress with a loose black jacket over the top covered in multi-coloured floral designs. And keen to shine out alongside her family members, Lucia looked beautiful in a floor-length black and white tiered ball gown and nude strappy heels, as she towered in front of the cameras.
