Aussie singer Keith Urban gave his fans one more reason to love him, after the country music star gifted a teenager his guitar at a drought-relief concert on Tuesday night.
The 51-year-old, who is married to actress Nicole Kidman, flew into Tamworth, New South Wales, for an intimate performance at the city’s legendary country music festival.
And 16-year-old Maddie Warden of Walgett got the surprise of her life when the veteran entertainer pulled her up on stage and handed her his electric guitar.
Maddie spoke to the ABC after the concert and told the broadcaster it was a “massive highlight” of her year so far.
The publication reported that the teenager travelled to the festival for some “much-needed relief” from her family’s sheep station after spending her school holidays pulling sheep out of muddy dams after they became trapped trying to find drinking water.
Keith’s stellar performance took place at the Tamworth Town Hall — the same venue where he had performed at age nine. The singer had the crowd on its feet as he delivered some of his best hits.
Tamworth Country Music Festival shared several videos and photos from the night on their Facebook page, and were quickly flooded with messages from adoring fans.
“This would have been awesome to go to!!” one commentator wrote.
Another added: “Thank you for an amazing night with a great man!!!! The crowd was awesome and the music was the BEST.”
While a third wrote: “So cool for him to be able to go back where it all started.”
The country singer kicks off his Aussie Graffiti U tour tonight in Newcastle and will play around the country, with his last show on February 6 in Melbourne.
This isn’t the first time Keith has surprised a fan on stage. Last year, the 51-year-old set the bar high for a young fan’s future birthdays after her invited her on stage and lead the packed crowd at his Orlando show in a rousing chorus of ‘Happy Birthday’ for her special day.
Keith made Ella’s 10th birthday all the more special when he brought her on stage at his Graffiti U tour in Florida’s capital, later sharing a video of the sweet moment on Instagram.
The singer had a lovely chat with the lucky girl, who is obviously a big fan of Keith’s, and commented on her t-shirt, which read “It’s my birthday and I’m going to see Keith Urban”.
“That’s the best, thank you so much,” the music star told her.
The pair then sit down together on a stool in front of the massive crowd while the music star sings ‘Happy Birthday’ along with his fans.
