Former Studio 10 host Jessica Rowe has claimed she “briefly flirted” with the idea of getting a boob job in her 20s, however the TV star said she is now thankful that she didn’t go down that path.
Opening up about her views on body image in new book Diary of a Crap Housewife, the mother-of-two admitted she considered making her breasts bigger after viewing before and after pictures of women who had undergone the procedure.
In an excerpt from her book, published by The Sydney Morning Herald, Rowe explained that the thought of surgically enhancing her chest had momentarily seemed like a great idea when she was younger.
“I was particularly taken with the before and after pictures of breast implants,” she said. “I had always been flat as a pancake and briefly flirted with the idea of getting a boob job.”
While the dream of having big boobs seemed appealing at the time, the author said she’s pleased she opted out of the surgery and does “not look like a Chupa Chup”. Rowe explained that, over the years, she came to love her body, stretch marks and all.
“Thank goodness my implants remained a daydream,” Rowe added. “I would have looked absurd with big boobs, my body out of proportion and comical, like a Chupa Chups lollipop.”
However, although she decided against a boob job, the journalist did admit to having botox injections in her face. The television presenter said she has had the procedure on her forehead, around her eyes and between her eyebrows, with the first taking place back in 2007.
Rowe explained that, while the procedure did hurt, it was a success, claiming it helped to minimise the unwanted lines but wasn’t so extreme that it stopped her from lifting her eyebrows.
The publication of the excerpt comes just weeks after Rowe appeared on Studio 10 for the first time since her emotional departure from the daytime talk show around one year ago.
The 48-year-old was full of smiles as she joined panellists Joe Hildebrand, Denise Drysdale and Kerri-Anne Kennerley to discuss her brand new book – just hours after making a shock appearance on Channel Nine’s Today show, where she previously worked.
The star was interviewed by Deb Knight and Georgie Gardner on the breakfast show about her lack of cooking skills, several years after she quit the program following highly publicised tension between Rowe and then-CEO Eddie McGuire following the now infamous “boning incident”.
Jessica famously clashed with McGuire during her time on the show in 2006/7, amid claims McGuire had wanted to sack her just a year into her stint on it. He allegedly said to a colleague at the time: “What are we gonna do about Jessica? When should we bone her? I reckon it should be next week.”
McGuire always denied using the term at the time, but his former colleague Mark Llewellyn signing an affidavit to say he did. Jessica admitted she was a little nervous before returning to Today, telling the Studio 10 panel that she did “a nervous poo” before going on.
Kerri-Anne later made reference to the dispute between Jess and McGuire on the show, to which Jess joked: “We mute him, Kerri-Anne, before the news comes on.”
