Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone becomes a father again at 89

Former Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone has become a father for the fourth time at the age of 89. His wife Fabiana Flosi, 44, has given birth to a baby boy named Ace.

The baby boy is the British businessman’s first son. He has three children, Deborah Ecclestone, 65, whom he shares with his first wife, Tamara Ecclestone, 36, and Petra Ecclestone, 31, from his second marriage.

Bernie confirmed the news to Swiss newspaper Blick, saying: “We have a son named Ace. I am so proud.” His wife, Fabiana, also told the newspaper: “It was all so easy. The birth was over after 25 minutes. I thank god.”

Ecclestone has been married to the Brazilian marketing director since 2012, tying the knot at his ski chalet in Switzerland.

The couple announced their pregnancy back in April. Fabiana told the Blick at the time: “Like all parents, we have only one wish, the child must be born healthy. Hopefully, he will never express any interest in doing something in Formula One!”

Ecclestone then added: “After my Formula One time, we’ve had plenty of time to practice!”

He’s not the only celebrity to welcome children later in life, and Rolling Stones’ Mick Jagger, 76, became a dad again when he and girlfriend Melanie Hamrick welcomed son Devereaux in December 2016. Meanwhile, his former bandmate Ronnie Wood, 73, and wife Sally welcomed twin girls in May 2016 making Wood, who’s a grandfather of 10, a dad for the fifth time.

Elsewhere, comedian Eddie Murphy, 59, became a father for the 10th time after his girlfriend Paige Butcher gave birth to a baby boy in December 2018. Murphy has fathered nine children to five different women since 1989, five with his former wife Nicole Mitchell and one each with exes Mel B, Tamara Hood Johnson and Paulette McNeely.

Meanwhile, Alec Baldwin, 62, and his wife Hilaria welcomed their fourth child, a son, in May 2018. The pair are already parents to daughter Carmen, son Rafael, and son Leonardo, while Alec also has daughter, Ireland, from his previous marriage to actress Kim Basinger.

The increasing trend of having babies later in life is a big change to previous generations. In the 1920s, the most common age to have babies was between 20 and 29, and that remained the same until the 1980s, when working women started having babies later in life.
