New mum Edwina Bartholomew shares adorable first photos of baby Molly

Edwina Bartholomew and husband Neil Varcoe welcomed their first child into the world on Wednesday evening and now the proud parents have shared two adorable photos of their new addition, revealing they are “exhausted and elated” following Edwina’s reported 36-hour labour.

Baby Molly Varcoe was born just two days ago and the beautiful bub has already made her debut on social media as her mother shared an adorable photo of her swaddled in a colourful blanket on her Instagram page on Friday morning. New dad Neil’s hand was rested gently on his daughter’s tummy.

While Channel Seven confirmed the news that Eddy had delivered a healthy baby girl on Thursday, revealing they had chosen to name her Molly, the new parents revealed they have also chosen to give their daughter two middle names, both of which have sentimental family ties.

The Sunrise presenter wrote: “Meet Molly Matilda Christie Varcoe. Late like her Mum and tall like her Dad. Molly ‘cause we like it.

“Matilda for Neil’s Great Grandmother. Christie was my Grandmother’s maiden name and my middle name too. We are exhausted and elated. @neilwrites still in shock. Thank you for all the well wishes. We all feel very loved xxx”

People were quick to comment on the sweet photographs, including 7.30 host Leigh Sales who wrote: “Congrats sweetheart xxx.” Former House Rules judge Wendy Moore commented: “Congrats Eddy – that’s such lovely news!!”

Lisa Wilkinson said: “Beautiful news…and well done Eddy! Xx” While Eddy’s Sunrise colleague Samantha Armytage wrote: “Welcome Molly Varcoe!!! Just gorgeous xx”

The second photo shared by Eddy showed the glowing new mother beaming with pride as she cradled her newborn daughter in her arms, looking remarkably refreshed after what was described by The Daily Telegraph as a “marathon” labour.

Molly was born one week after Edwina’s due date and, in the days before she made her arrival, the 36-year-old TV star had taken to social media to share her discomfort as she eagerly awaited the birth of her first child.

Edwina first announced her pregnancy during an episode of the breakfast television program back in June, surprising colleague David ‘Kochie’ Koch live on air with her special news.

“I have a bit of an announcement myself!” she said at the time. Then, as a clearly shocked Kochie looked at her, she added: “The girls already know, but Kochie surprise…”

As he rushed to hug her and shouted out in delight, Edwina added for viewers: “We’re having a baby!” before adding that she’s due at “the end of the year”.
