Cornelia Frances’ son pens emotional tribute one year on from her death

Cornelia Frances’ son Lawrence Eastland has shared an emotional message to his late mum, marking the one-year anniversary of her death from cancer.

The Home and Away star passed away on May 28 last year, at the age of 77, and her grieving son marked the first anniversary of her death with a beautiful photograph, admitting he still misses his mum “insanely”.

Taking to Instagram earlier this week, Lawrence shared a heartwarming snap of him with his famous mother, which showed the pair smiling and embracing, with Cornelia holding on to her sons’s hands.

“One year ago today I held your hands as you passed away,” he wrote. “It was one of the biggest days of my life and not a single second has gone by with out me missing you insanely. I

Fans of the Aussie star, who is best known for playing Alf’s evil sister Morag Bellingham on the iconic soap, also paid tribute on social media, sharing messages of support on Lawrence’s post.

One fan wrote: “What an Australian Icon.” While another said: “She won’t be forgotten.”

A third wrote: “A true Australian tv legend and icon that I grew up watching and will never forget. So many memories watching you on tv with my grandmother. I thank you Cornelia and god bless to your family.”

Lawrence confirmed his mum’s death last year, after the beloved actress passed away just weeks after celebrating her 77th birthday, as he shared a harrowing photograph of her sleeping, taken shortly before she passed away. The screen star died as a result of bladder cancer, which eventually spread to her hip and spine.

He wrote in the emotional caption at the time: “A very personal photo of my mum during one of her resting moments, she is so peaceful, soft and serene.
