A Sydney woman has been left horrified after she claims she found a deadly redback spider crawling around in a bunch of green grapes she purchased from Aldi.

Yolande Gamble shared a photo of the scary find on Facebook on Friday afternoon, writing: “Had a bit of an incident with a spider today, it was in my grapes. As I opened them there he was on the bottom of the grapes.”

In the image a small spider with a red stripe down it’s back can be see sitting among the grapes .

The redback spider is a highly venomous spider found throughout Australia. Only female redbacks are dangerous and their bite can cause serious illness, and even death in extreme cases.

The post attracted a slew of comments from people who were frightened by the discovery.

“Wow the things you find in your shopping. Glad you didn’t get bitten,” one commentator wrote.

Another added: “Wow that’s nasty.” While a third wrote: “OMG. That’s awful!!”

If the post is anything to go by, it’s quite common for creepy crawlers to be found in unusual hiding spots. Last month, a Victorian couple were given the ultimate fright as they awoke to find a deadly tiger snake hanging from the air conditioner in their bedroom.

Natalie Marcok and her partner were left in absolute horror when they spotted one of Australia’s most venomous snakes just metres from them.

Quickly calling in a snake catcher for help, the couple watched on in shock as Stewart Gatt, or more commonly known as Stewy the snake catcher, removed the reptile from the unit.

According to the Herald Sunit took around 30 minutes for Stewart to entice the snake away from the air conditioner, using a hook to grab its slippery tail.

Standing by with her phone, Natalie captured the whole ordeal on video, showcasing just how sneaky snakes can be.

Each year snakes and spiders make their way out of hiding, slithering and creeping around homes, with some even found hiding under toilet seats or in beds. About 3,000 Australians are bitten by snakes each year and a further 2,000 are bitten by redback spiders alone.

Have you had any nasty encounters with snakes or spiders this summer?
