Losing jewellery around the house can be the biggest inconvenience and once you drop a single earring, delicate bracelet or small brooch, it can be near impossible to find them again. However, a genius new hack claims to solve the problem for good.

A video posted on Facebook by 5-Minute Crafts, a page full of helpful hints, suggests a number of easy ways to clean your house using everyday items you’d find in your cupboard. And one of the page’s latest hacks has gone viral, after claiming to help find any lost gems or precious items with nothing but a stocking, a vacuum cleaner and a rubber band.

As the video suggests, simply remove the head from your vacuum cleaner and cover the opening with a medium sized piece of stocking. Secure the stocking around the top of the tube by tightly tying a rubber band around it. Then simply turn on the vacuum cleaner and run the stocking-covered opening over the floor, under couches and in small crevices.

The suction of the vacuum will attract whatever it is you’re missing, but the stocking will act as a barrier so the pieces of jewellery don’t get completely sucked in.

This smart, out-of-the-box cleaning hack will work wonders for those who easily misplace or drop items, those with bad eye sight who find it hard to spot missing things, and those who can’t get on the ground or reach all the way under the couch to investigate.

This was just one quick hack among a video full of different, unconventional ways to clean your house.

Another hack suggested creating a self-soaping sponge for people to do their dishes with. All people have to do is cut an insert in the side of the sponge, slip a small round of soap inside and run it under water. The video also suggested unclogging your shower head by tying a bag of vinegar over it so the head can soak for up to 30 minutes before removing and rinsing off.

Rubbing a tennis ball on a wall to remove scuff marks, spraying your dustpan with water before using it to collect dust better and sucking up a pile of cinnamon to make your vacuum cleaner smell better were all also among some of the better quick and easy cleaning solutions.
