Royal lips! The Queen and Catherine get their own lipstick shades

Written byStarts at 60 Writers
The Queen and Catherine now both have a lipstick named after them.

The Queen and her granddaughter-in-law, the Duchess of Cambridge, are two of the world’s most popular style icons and now they each have a lipstick shade.

Top make-up giant Charlotte Tilbury‘s latest shades have been inspired by the royals, each offering a subtle colour that would likely suit both women. And while many women already have a tried and tested shade they wear each day, thousands will no doubt be rushing out to get their hands on the new royal hues.

The new collection includes a rose pink shade named ‘The Duchess’, as part of the K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick line, and is available for UK£24 (AU$43). Meanwhile, Queen Elizabeth has got her own shade, too – this one aptly named Legendary Queen in a matte, red wine hue to match her love of darker colours on royal outings.

The new shades sit alongside Tilbury’s already well-established shade ‘The Queen’, which is a darker red-tinted colour.

Describing her ‘Legendary Queen’ colour, Tilbury writes: “Darlings, this NEW & EXCLUSIVE lipstick is fit for a QUEEN. My Matte Revolution Lipstick in Legendary Queen is a globally-gorgeous soft neutral wine shade so you can be the BEAUTY queen of lip looks with this dazzling colour. This matte lipstick has all the ingredients for a lit-from-within pout including triglycerides, antioxidants and 3D glowing pigments.”

In this year's Queen's Christmas Broadcast 2017, Her Majesty has talked about the theme of "home" and wished everyone a very happy Christmas. You can watch the full speech on our website – by following the link in our bio. "We think of our homes as places of warmth, familiarity and love; of shared stories and memories, which is perhaps why at this time of year so many return to where they grew up," Her Majesty said. "There is a timeless simplicity to the pull of home. "For many, the idea of “home” reaches beyond a physical building – to a home town or city.  This Christmas, I think of London and Manchester, whose powerful identities shone through over the past twelve months in the face of appalling attacks," The Queen said. The Queen also added… "Today we celebrate Christmas, which itself is sometimes described as a festival of the home.  Families travel long distances to be together. "Volunteers and charities, as well as many churches, arrange meals for the homeless and those who would otherwise be alone on Christmas Day.  We remember the birth of Jesus Christ whose only sanctuary was a stable in Bethlehem.  He knew rejection, hardship and persecution; and yet it is Jesus Christ’s generous love and example which has inspired me through good times and bad. "Whatever your own experiences this year; wherever and however you are watching,  I wish you a peaceful and very happy Christmas." #Christmas2017 #ChristmasDay2017 #QueensSpeech

Meanwhile, she adds of ‘The Duchess’: “My K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in The Duchess is a splendidly sophisticated tea-rose pink shade so you can treat yourself like royalty!”

It comes after Catherine’s make-up artist Arabella Preston gave fans an insight into her makeup routine in an interview with W magazine. She insisted a facial oil is essential in anyone’s daily routine, and added: “If you ask a pro makeup artist how they prep skin, they say a facial oil nine times out of 10.”

While Catherine often chooses a subtle pink lipstick, the Queen is regularly pictured with a classic, darker red-tinted colour, along with bright clothes and a hat to match.

Will you be buying these royal-inspired lip shades? What’s your favourite shade of lipstick?
