Princess Mary is always spot on with her outfits and she’s done it again this week, taking inspiration from none other that the magical Mary Poppins.
Dressed in a matching long navy coat and headpiece, the Aussie-born royal looked just as gorgeous as the favourite nanny, smiling broadly for cameras as she officially opened a new bridge named after herself. Bu it wasn’t just the coat which matched Mary Poppins, with the mother-of-four also adding a pop of red, with a pretty dress underneath.
Styling her hair in an elegant low bun, Mary delighted crowds at the inauguration of the Crown Princess Mary’s Bridge at Frederikssund, Denmark, shaking the hands of fans and engaging in conversation. Standing tall in simple, yet classy heels with a pair of dark gloves to keep her hands warm in the chilly weather, the royal had the honour of cutting the ribbon to celebrate the moment.
Tusindvis var i dag mødt frem for at overvære, da H.K.H. Kronprinsessen officielt kunne indvie Kronprinsesse Marys Bro ved Frederikssund. Den nye bro er et supplement til den nærliggende Kronprins Frederiks Bro, der er fra 1935 og opkaldt efter Frederik 9. Efter at have klippet det røde bånd til Kronprinsesse Marys Bro over spadserede Hendes Kongelige Højhed ud på den 1.4 kilometer lange bro, der forbinder Vest- og Nordsjælland over Roskilde Fjord. I forbindelse med åbningen af broen startede Kronprinsessen også et motionsløb, hvor omkring 10.000 mennesker enten gik eller løb ”One Mile”, fem kilometer eller ti kilometer over den nye bro.
Following this the princess took a stroll along the 1.4 kilometre bridge which connected West and North Zealand over the Roskilde Fjord inlet. The bridge sits nearby a similar structure which was named after Crown Prince Frederik’s bridge, which was created in 1935 and named after Frederik 9.
Also marking the occasion, Mary helped to start off a special race, with about 10,000 people walking or running 5kms or 10kms over the new bridge. Fans have commended Mary for her ongoing support for the community, with many noting how beautiful she looked in her Mary Poppins inspired look.
“Just like Mary Poppins,” one person wrote on Instagram. While another commented: “Beautiful sweet Mary, you made the impression. Thank you for all your smiles and warm handshakes today.”
Meanwhile a third added: “She is simply so sweet and sympathetic to look at … our beautiful beautiful Mary. Always a pleasure to see her.”
It has been a busy few days for the mum, who the day earlier stepped out in a pretty and formal cream suit jacket and wide leg pants for the Healthcare Denmark Summit. The princess was a picture of elegance in the ensemble as she met with health ambassadors from Germany, the US, Sweden, the UK and Canada.
Sundhedsambassadører fra Tyskland, USA, Sverige, Storbritannien og Canada har i denne uge været i Danmark for at øge deres kendskab til det danske sundhedsvæsen.Ambassadørerne var samlet til topmødet Healthcare DENMARK, som H.K.H. Kronprinsessen i går deltog i. Topmødet fandt i år sted i Kennedy Center i Glostrup og løb over to dage. Det første ambassadørnetværk blev etableret ved et topmøde i 2014, hvor Kronprinsessen forestod udnævnelsen af de dengang nye ambassadører. Siden har netværket arbejdet for at styrke det internationale kendskab til Danmark på sundhedsområdet. Efter modtagelsen af Regionrådsformand Sophie Hæstorp Andersen og formand for Healthcare DENMARK Sten Scheibye holdt Kronprinsessen tale. Held at the Kennedy Centre in Glostrup, Denmark, the event ran over two days and focused on the work of a network of professionals which have helped to strengthen the international knowledge of the country in the health field. After giving a short speech to attendees, Mary was given a tour around the laboratory at Genomcenter Øst, which is currently working on diagnostics, treatment and research in eastern Denmark.
“Aussie Mary fits well into her role of Crown Princess,” one fan wrote on Instagram. “She’s absolutely beautiful, always so elegant and fortunate to have married into such a lovely Royal family.”
While another commented: “You get so proud and warm about your heart when you see how happy and smiling and present our beautiful crown princess is when she greets people. And how happy people are about her way of greeting.”
