The Duchess of Sussex has proved she’s just like any other mum, doing away with the fancy frocks and stepping out in a casual pair of blue jeans and a striped shirt for a secret royal outing earlier this week.
Showing off her generous and caring side once again, Meghan made a special visit to Luminary Bakery in London which helps to support women at risk, such as those who have faced poverty, homelessness and domestic violence. With a huge smile on her face, the mother-of-one joined in decorating a beautiful cake, while chatting away with the talented women who are learning new skills to get them back into work.
For the outing Meghan ditched the heels and donned a pair of comfortable white sneakers, while she wore her beautiful brown locks down and slightly waved. In a video shared on Instagram, the 38-year-old could be seen watching on as the women created tasty masterpieces and posed for snaps with the delicious looking cake she helped to decorate.

Earlier this week The Duchess of Sussex visited the women of @LuminaryBakery as they celebrated the opening of their new location. It was a special moment to acknowledge the spirit of Luminary and their remarkable business model that opens its arms to women from vulnerable circumstances (be it abuse, poverty, trafficking, marginalisation) and equips them with the job skills and confidence to succeed. Having sat down with @luminarybakery at their flagship location earlier this year and from that inspiring visit choosing to feature them as #ForcesForChange in the September issue of @britishvogue, Her Royal Highness was proud to be invited to attend the launch of their second bakery. This addition will enable the organisation to provide services, support and mentoring for four times the number of women. Luminary Bakery – a sustainable grassroots organisation in the heart of London – is a beautiful example of community and uplifting those during hardship for the greater good. “Earlier this week the Duchess of Sussex visited the women of @LuminaryBakery as they celebrated the opening of their new location,” the post on Instagram read. “It was a special moment to acknowledge the spirit of Luminary and their remarkable business model that opens its arms to women from vulnerable circumstances (be it abuse, poverty, trafficking, marginalisation) and equips them with the job skills and confidence to succeed.”
Speaking to the women during her visit, Meghan said she felt honoured to be there and able to interact with women from all types of backgrounds and cultures, The Telegraph reports. Not focusing on the trauma the women had been through, the duchess said when stripping away all the layers, you can “find a deep connection with each other, and a shared understanding”

“Our lives may be different, our backgrounds, our experiences, all varied,” she said according to The Telegraph. “But I find that in these moments of connection it becomes abundantly clear that our hopes, our fears, our insecurities, the things that make us tick … well, those are very much the same. And there’s comfort in that.”
This wasn’t the first time Meghan has interacted with the organisation having sat down with the bakery staff at their flagship location earlier this year. Inspired by the work they do to help women in need, the mum ended up featuring them as #ForcesForChange in the September issue of British Vogue.
While she has copped a fair bit of criticism of late, fans have rallied behind the duchess and praised her for helping those in need.
Taking to Instagram to share their thoughts one person wrote: “Keeping up bringing light and love to the world dear Meghan.” While another commented: “Love seeing the magic that happens when confidence meets charm.” And a third added: “Meghan, you are very inspiring. Sending love and gratitude from Australia.”
Her appearance at the bakery comes just weeks after footage of the duchess speaking about her struggles in the spotlight, was shared online from the ITV documentary Harry & Meghan: An African Journey. Meghan, who became a mother for the first time in May this year, opened up in her most honest interview to date about the “vulnerability” she felt at dealing with media and public scrutiny whilst she was pregnant.
Speaking to ITV journalist Tom Bradby, the mum-of-one says: “Look, any woman especially when they are pregnant you’re really vulnerable and so that was made really challenging, and then when you have a new born, you know…
“And especially as a woman, it’s a lot. So you add this on top of just trying to be a new mom or trying to be a newlywed. And, also thank you for asking, because not many people have asked if I’m OK. But it’s a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes.”
In the short clip, Meghan can be seen getting visibly emotional as Bradby then asks her: “Would it be fair to say, [you’re] not really OK, as in it’s really been a struggle??” To which the duchess replies: “Yes.”
