Jerry Hall wows in elaborate ’80s-inspired ruffled ensemble

Her modelling days may be behind her, but Jerry Hall still knows how to turn heads on the red carpet.

The 62-year-old stepped out in an elaborate ensemble at Monday’s British Fashion Awards, tearing up the red carpet alongside her eldest daughter Elizabeth, 34.

The former supermodel, who is married to media mogul Rupert Murdoch, went all out in the glam stakes, donning a long black skirt matched with a 1980s-inspired ruffled bronzed bodice — ensuring she fitted right in with the fashionable crowd.

She finished off the bold look with a black jacket, which featured shoulder pads, and accessorised with an emerald and diamond necklace with matching drop-earrings.

Meanwhile her daughter, whom she shares with former husband Mick Jagger, wore a floor-length red dress for the star-studded event. Clearly taking after her mother’s fashion-forward ways, Elizabeth completed the look with a long black velvet jacket and accessorised with glittering diamond earrings and a matching necklace.

The British Fashion Awards celebrate individuals and businesses that have made a significant contribution to the fashion industry over the past year and this year’s event saw the likes of David and Victoria Beckham, Penelope Cruz and the Duchess of Sussex show their support.

The duchess wowed the crowd as she made a surprise appearance on stage at the event to honour her wedding dress designer Clare Waight Keller, artistic director of Givenchy, with the British Womenswear Designer of the Year award.

And all eyes were on Meghan’s growing baby bump which she cradled as she stood on stage dressed in a fitted black one-shoulder velvet gown by Givenchy, with her hair pulled back in a sleek bun.

Elsewhere on the red carpet Spanish actress Penelope Cruz slipped into a stunning silver gown, which featured beaded detailing. She finished off the look with simple silver accessories and wore her brunette locks up in a glamorous bun.

Jerry has been happily married to Rupert since 2016 when they tied the knot in London. The couple, who have 10 children between them, first met in Australia in 2015, when Jerry was touring with The Graduate, before making their first public appearance together at the Rugby World Cup final at Twickenham in London.

They have attracted a lot of attention since their marriage – deciding to wed after just months of dating.

Jerry made a name for herself in the 1970s as a model, but it was her off-again, on-again relationship with Rolling Stones legend Mick Jagger that made her one of the society’s enduring ‘it girls’. She has also appeared in several films including Urban Cowboy (1980) and Tim Burton’s Batman (1989).
