We have all been there, frantically wrapping gifts as the clock counts down to Christmas morning – but one blogger’s nifty gift wrapping hacks have gone viral, saving mums, dads and grandparents heaps of time as they get ready to surprise their loved ones on Tuesday.

Kallie Branciforte, who shares video blogs online under the name But First, Coffee, posted a video on her YouTube channel which featured a number of time – and money – saving ways to wrap your gifts both more effectively, and more impressively.

While the tips video was actually originally shared last December, it has resurfaced again this year as people no doubt took to the Internet in search of ways to cut down their prep time with just one day to go until the big day.

The clip, which lasts for almost seven minutes, features six different tricks for wrapping present of all shapes and sizes – including a how-to guide for making your own gift bag using only wrapping paper and sticky tape.

The most popular – and probably most helpful – technique is one Kallie has named the “diagonal wrapping method” which is particularly handy when you don’t have enough paper.

“This first hack is going to blow your mind,” Kallie says in the video. “It honestly amazed me when I first figured out how to do it.”

She goes on the show how the method can be used to wrap a gift when you don’t have enough paper, or want to save money, simply by turning the paper by 45 degrees, meaning you place the item onto the paper diagonally instead of horizontally.

The blogger also demonstrates how to make a gift bag using only wrapping paper, rather than spending money on pre-made gift bags, as well as showing how you can make decorative bows and gift boxes for small gifts.

People praised the YouTuber for her suggestions, with one person writing: “This is great! I’m about to wrap stuff for my mom in two days and I’m excited to really impress her!”

Another said: “The first hack was an eye opener. I have never heard of wrapping a present sideways before.”

While one admitted he was still struggling to perfect his wrapping technique: “I cut a piece of wrapping paper too small and thought it was a perfect opportunity to try the angle wrap. It made enough room from the sides, but not the top. When I was done, it was a disaster. Maybe I did it wrong. I ended up unwrapping it and just cutting a bigger piece of paper.”

Have you wrapped all of your christmas gifts already? Do you have any time-saving tips that you swear by?
