Generous, kind, caring, these are all words used to describe World War II veteran Bob Williams, who spreads joy throughout his community through a simple and sweet gesture.

For the past 11 years the 93-year-old has brought smiles to the faces of everyone he meets, friend or stranger it doesn’t matter, because according to Bob, they all deserve a chocolatey treat.

Each week the much-loved gentleman will head to his local store in the US state of Iowa to buy a box of Hershey’s milk chocolate bars. But they aren’t all for him. Instead Bob will walk down the street handing out chocolate to anyone he sees.

He doesn’t expect anything in return, he simply wants to bring a bit of happiness to their day. It’s a gesture that has gained him a lot of fans, with even Hershey’s getting on board to say thanks in a new advertising campaign.

Throughout the heartwarming video, people of all ages thank Bob for bringing joy to the community and teaching others about kindness and respect.

“I’m not sure how it started, it’s just a heartwarming act,” one person can be heard saying.

“He’s just so generous, always a kind word,” another adds. While a third says: “He’s teaching all of us how to pay forward.”

Since Hershey’s has shared the video on social media, Bob has gained even more fans, all praising him for his sweet gesture.

“Thank you, Bob! You bring light to the world!” one person commented.

While a second said: “What a wonderful story about a wonderful man. So giving…we should all share this kind of love in this world.”

“How cute is he???? I want to be like Bob in my community!” another added.

Whether you call him Mr Williams, Bob or the candy man, there is no doubt this caring veteran brings a whole lot of positivity to the town. And even though he has handed out over 6,000 chocolate bars over the years, Bob says in the video, he just wants to make people happy.

“I thought I could give everyone a Hershey bar, it puts a smile on their face. It makes me feel good,” he explains.

What do you think of Bob’s kind gesture? What do you do to give back to your community?
