You can take the girl out of Australia, but you can’t take Australia out of the girl! Although she’s lived in America for decades now, it seems Nicole Kidman hasn’t gone full Valley girl yet and isn’t afraid to take on creepy crawlies when the moment calls for it.
The Moulin Rouge star shared a video to her Instagram page on Sunday, showing her tackling a fat tarantula that was scuttling along the edge of her backyard pool. The 51-year-old got up close to the spider as she tried to catch it, with her daughters Sunday Rose, 10, and Faith Margaret, 7, heard squealing in the background.
At one point, one of her girls is heard yelling, “Get back, mum!” before the other proudly proclaims “It’s a tarantula isn’t it, mum!”. It appears Nicole had no problems wrangling the giant spider into a jar, as in the next shot she was seen holding up her handiwork and saying, “I’m having to take care of this spider, help!”.
She posted with the caption: “House guest! Catch and release…spider released unharmed and healthy Happy Sunday.”
Having grown up in Sydney, Nicole is used to dealing with all sorts of creepy crawlies – as are most Aussies! Her American fans seemed astounded by her efforts though and flooded her Instagram page with comments, referring to her as a “super mum”, a “fierce woman” and “brave”.
Although she and husband Keith Urban live between the US and Australia, Nicole is currently in Los Angeles where she’s shooting hit series Big Little Lies. She’s also been busy promoting her new film, Aquaman, and earlier this month wowed fans at Comic-Con in LA.
The actress looked incredible in the floor-length white and black layered button-up dress, while showing off her waistline with a tight black statement belt round the middle.
The cotton tulle-embroidered dress was fresh from Christian Dior’s Cruise 2019 collection, and the award-winning actress showed it off perfectly with transparent sleeves and a ruffled bottom to show off her figure.
While they’re currently busy in the US, both Nicole and Keith will be spending plenty of time Down Under at the end of the year. Keith announced on Monday that his bringing his Graffiti U tour to Australia, and plans on being home for hot and sunny Christmas.
